Two cards

I made the following cards during a crop at a friend's house. This first one was made with a sketch from Get Sketchy. This is the sketch:

An altered box

There's a bit of everything on this box. I started with old book pages, then layered gesso, patterned paper, magazine pages, stickers, etc. I also added crackle paint, Stickles, Dimensional pearls, a Radiant Rain dauber, rub-ons and thickers. I did all sides, even the bottom. The inside hasn't been altered yet. This box was a work-in-progress for several months. I may still add to it.

"Cossins" is French slang for stuff, or things.

My very first mini-album

I was very much at the last minute when I made this mini. I believe I made it on the 23rd of December last year, in 7 hours, non stop. What took me the longest time was to select which photo I was going to use, with which papers. The rest just flowed. I'd been doing scrapbooking for 3 months when I did this mini.

I purchased an accordion album, and since there was no time to alter the cover, I left it as is, only adding a picture on each side, with a metal frame and cut-out images from a patterned paper (Night light from October Afternoon) The album was purchased in advance, but when I sat down to make it, it was too late to buy any missing supplies (like alphas!!). I had to make do!

Each side of the mini was devoted to one of my sister's two kids.

Let's start with G's side.

Now for M's side...

A long overdue post...

I've recently had to chance to take pictures of some of the cards I made and gave away to my family, as well as the mini-album I made for my sister for Christmas last year. Check it out.

This one was for my parents' anniversary. All papers are Basic Grey Periphery. I think it's the most beautiful card I've ever made.

This is the card I posted on April 4th 2009 (I know, I know), it's not in pristine condition, but you can finally see the real colors.

This next card was for my nephew's birthday. I believe I made this card in my first scrapbooking class.

This next one contained theatre tickets that I got for my niece and nephew for Christmas last year. There's a small pocket inside to hold the tickets.

That's it for now! I'll post the mini album tomorrow.

9) Encre, crayons de cire hydrosolubles (Caran d'Ache Neocolor II) et étampe sur Bazill

Clipart

I read somewhere on a blog today something about clip art. I can't recall where it was! I looked into my own personal library of links (aka my overstuffed email inbox) and found this link I sent myself a long time ago. There's a bit of everything.

http://etc.usf.edu/clipart/

I don't know about licensing or royalties, but if it's personal use on your own art, it shouldn't be a problem... I think... ::shifty eyes::

The camera update

I checked today if Best Buy mailed the camera, and they haven't! We ordered it on August 30th. So tomorrow, I'm calling a camera shop and if they have it in stock, I'm canceling Best Buy.

Seriously, I have so much stuff to post. There's the mini I did for my sister at Christmas, and numerous cards. There are several that I already gave away, but since it's all to my family, I'll just photograph the cards next time I visit them.

I did four cards recently, one is posted below, but I'll repost it when I get the camera, and one I already gave to my parents for their anniversary. I can't wait to get the camera so I post everything and finally be up to date in here!

Get Sketchy no 3

I can't wait to get my new camera! Guess why?

The second pic shows the real colors and the 3D effect, but is a bit out of focus. The first one is in focus but over exposed!

We're getting a new camera in the next few weeks. Je garde espoir!

Papers are Basic Grey Lemonade and Eva.

It's been a while...

It's been a while since I posted anything here. I've made several cards, and gave away some I already had because I was feeling lazy ;-)

This first one is made with Ranger glossy paper and alcohol inks, then stamped on top with black Stazon. It was given to my DH's bosslady. Very simple layout, but big impact with the glossy paper center image.

Second, there was this card which I made on my very first scrapbooking class back in September 2008. I still hadn't painted the images, so I whipped out my Twinkling H2Os and finished it, and it was ready to go!

And the last picture currently uploaded on my computer is my mother's day card. Very simple to make. The card is sold precut, so I simply applied pattern patter on the vase and painted the flowers. I used the vintage watercolor palette from US Artquest. The card is from Magenta.

<---P.S. Why is there a "frame" around the smiley? Anyone as another html code I should use instead of img src? Fanks!

My work space

Here is a picture of my temporary art space. All I have is this small desk, and it's covered in stuff. It's also surrounded in stuff which you can't see on the picture.

I was playing in my art journal when I took this picture. I haven't drawn anything in years, and this was a first time attempt. Her arms are not the same length! Next time, I think I will sketch in pencil first.

You can see the inchies I'm working on right above the journal in a round transparent container.

CANDY!!

My birthday is coming up, so in the hope of getting a few gifts, I signed up for several blog candies!

Check them out :
For this first one, Judy is celebrating her 10,000th hit. I have to nominate someone who has helped or encourage me in some way. I am nominating my friend Metz.

Naomi is also celebrating her 10,000th hit!

Bev in the UK has a blogoversary on the exact day of my birthday, the 23rd! Happy birth/blog day!

Ro Bruhn, who lives in Australia (sigh of envy) recently turned or will soon turn 60 and is hosting a blog candy to celebrate. Happy birthday to us, Ro!

There's another candy over at My Cardz Cool paper, ink, stamp...

Also over at Everything paper crafts... I think I might start to hyperventilate!

Kath's blog also have a giveaway.

Lucky Jennie
went to Ranger U and got a few goodies that she is now giving away. Awesome!

I saw on a few blogs that people had all their blog candy entries in a side bar... Might be useful! ;-)

Make something everyday

I saw that in many blogs on the past months. So I decided to try it. Monday, I made my very first ATC. It's a playing card I had covered with mucho layers of gesso a month ago. I just stamped it with black Stazon, and painted it with my newest toys : Twinkling H2Os. I luff them!!

I also made 2 inchies, one yesterday, one today, but I didn't take pictures yet. One of them is covered with Crackle accents which is drying and crackling as we speak.

True colors... are beautiful like a rainbow...

Here's the circle I made and decided not to put on my card. Same ink, same stamp, except for the bonne fête which I put elsewhere on the final card. Now you know what the colors are supposed to be like. Can you see the wart-like bubbles?

Yesterday's card

I just noticed that the colors from my newest card are showing up wrong. They look like orange and green, but in fact, the card is a pale yellow and the circle is blue. It's a cell phone pic, so that might be the reason, or maybe the lighting was bad. If I get a chance to take a better picture, I will.

A new caaaarrrrrrrd!

I made this card today for my brother in law's birthday. I started with a white card base, applied distress ink in Scattered straw over the front and sprayed with water. Then I stamped the text in black chalk ink, covered in Faded jeans Distress ink immediately so it would smudge the ink a bit and sprayed with water.

At first, I tried to cover the circle with Crackle accents but it was taking way too much time. So I just applied it everywhere unevenly and decided to dry it with my heat gun. That was the fun part. The Crackle accent started to boil!! It formed nice little bubbles over the surface and they dried as is. No crackles though. I'm still unsure if I like it or not... :-D So anyway, I made another one and skipped the Crackle accents. I finished my card with 2 strip of patterned paper and a chipboard. I applied a bit of dark brown chalk ink on the chipboard.

This card was made with this week's sketch from Card positioning systems.

A quote on money

I noticed today the following quote on the Canadian 20$ bill.

Nous connaîtrions-nous seulement un peu nous-mêmes, sans les arts?

Could we ever know each other in the slightest without the arts?

I recently purchased 2 mix media books on amazon.com, and while I was shopping for them, I noticed a few more I'm planning to get later.

Then today, I noticed that the author of one of those books is having a giveaway!
